The Arbitration Council (AC) handled a total of 117 registered labour disputes in 2019, according to the AC foundation’s annual report. All the cases mentioned, it added, were resolved within the 15-day timeframe – an indication of effectiveness of the council in supporting the labour sector in Cambodia.The dispute handling has an average success rate between 74-75 percent, and so far benefiting 41,906 people involved, approximately 80% of them are women.The Arbitration Council Foundation’s service is made possible through the funding support from the Royal Government of Cambodia through the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training. Since its inception in 2003, the AC handles cases from factories across Cambodia, including garment and footwear, hospitality, construction, transportation, food and services, and agriculture sectors.
